Departmental Alumni Meetings

Dept. of Botany

The Alumni Association meeting of the Department of Botany was held on 28/11/2004. This meeting was organized on I short notice as a preliminary one. About thirty students including MLA Sri. Johny Nelloor and Sri. T. K. Ramakrishnan, the President, Nirmala Alumni Association participated in the meeting. It was decided to organize another Alumni meeting by contacting all the students of Botany from the very beginning.

This committee took much interest, collected the addresses of all the students of the Dept. of Botany and contacted all the students. Thus a second meeting was organised on 20/3/2005. About 80 participants were there, I which included students from 1964 onwards.

The Alumni gathered were from various parts of Kerala and they really enjoyed meeting their old friends after long years. They discussed the need for a strong Alumni Association. They also suggested that regular Botany Alumni Day should be fixed on the Diwali Day every year I and they should bring their families too. A 12 member executive committee was elected with Mr. Biju A. Paulose as the President and Miss. Swapna Chandrasekharan as the secretary. It was indeed a memorable occasion.

Dept. of Commerce

The B.Com. 1978-81 Batch Family gathering was held on 12th December 2004 at Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha. It was really a pleasurable experience to the batch mate, a meeting after 24 years. As many as 45 families consisting of 65 members participated. The programme started at 11 am.

The Head of the Dept. of Commerce Prof. Sr. Lilly C.A. welcomed the participants. .It was followed by a formal introduction of the batchmates. The then Principal and Head of the Dept. Prof. T.J. Francis Xavier spoke on the occasion. The Principal of the college felicitated all participants Quite a few retired teachers Prof. N. M. Paulose, Prof. M. C. George, Prof. C.J. Thomas, Prof. M.J. John were present. There was a sumptuous lunch also.

Dept. of Hindi

The Hindi departmental Alumni Association was held on 12^th March 2005 at 10.00 a.m. in the auditorium. The meeting was presided over by the Vice-Principal, Prof. George Varghese and inaugurated by Sri. T.K. Ramakrishnan, President of the Alumni Association.

Various cultural programmes lent colour to the function. An executive committee was formed to chalk out future programmes of the Association. It was decided that seminars and get-together meetings shall be conducted from this year onwards. 40 members belonging to batches from 1985-2003 participated in the function.
